Description :

Similar in use to a brewing hydrometer, but measures in a different range (0-100% alcohol and 0-200 proof). The use of an alcoholmeter is very straight forward. Pour a sample of the spirit to be tested into a tall glass or high chemical tolerant plastic cylinder, leaving enough space for the alcoholmeter to disperse the liquid. In order to obtain the most accurate reading possible, try to ensure that the liquid is as close to 68 degree F (20'C) as possible, as this is the temperature that the alcoholmeter has been calibrated to (should your alcoholmeter be calibrated to a different temperature, which should be stated on the meter, ensure that your liquid is at the quoted temperature). Place your alcoholmeter in the sample and spin it do dislodge any bubbles that may have been in the liquid, and could potentially cause the alcoholmeter to float slightly higher, resulting in a low reading. Read the mark where the liquid level crosses the stem of the alcoholmeter. This is your percentage alcohol by volume.

The secret to success in woodworking is information. Whether it's information on how to operate a tool successfully, the right way to make a cut or the location of the best downloadable plans, the right information at the right time is the key to success.

About Wayne's Woodworking World

Wayne's Woodworking World comes from the mind of Wayne Foreman. I am a husband, father, technology geek and, no great surprise.... woodworking enthusiast.

I've always loved putting things together. Whether they be computers, home audio, or pieces of wood, working with my hands is something I love to do.

As a homeowner and father of (4) kids, there is always a project that needs to be done. Whether we need to organize sports equipment or build more seating for our back yard, being able to build exactly what we need is fun and rewarding!

In my day job I work at a technology company. My primary role is to learn as much as I can about our company, the products we sell and the value those products bring to our customers, then summarize that information for each of our sales people so they can quickly and accurately portray our products and services to prospective customers.

Sound interesting?  In 2 minutes you can be part of our Woodworking community!

How Does that Help Me?

Why is my skill important to you? Well, that same set of skills is what I bring to this site. I take the time to learn about the latest woodworking tools, techniques and project plans, I review them, test them out, then share with you just the information that you care about.

My goal for this site is to introduce you to this amazing hobby and help you build your knowledge and skills quickly so you can be successful woodworking as quickly as possible. Building is much more fun than learning, so I'll help you learn just what you need to know so you can get to building. Articles and videos will be short and to the point. You'll be able to quickly find just the information you need, when you need it.
